set/10 ANTIQUE FUR TRADE BEADS : Russian Blue
An unique set of 10 antique tradebeads, originally made in Bohemia
These beads were made in Europe and transported to the Northern parts of America & Canada where they were used (mostly bij Russian traders) as money for trading (mostly) pelts with the Native Americans.
These beads are known as Russian Blue and were highly valued by the Native Americans/First Nations, because they were faceted like precious gemstones.
Great to use in your jewelry, but also great to display. Will increase in value!
- Size: approx 4,5 to 6 mm across each (most are 4,5 to 5 mm) - length approx 4-5 mm each - hole 2-2,5 mm (some with larger holes). Sizes/shapes/shades vary a little per bead, see photos.
- Fantastic old beads in beautiful light Blue shades. Age: 1800's. Condition: some good and others show their age.
